The region has Initiated efforts to establish a San Bernardino/ Riverside Regional TIM Committee. Engage SANBAG and RCTC. Identify partner roles and responsibilities. Ensure laws and TIM messages are incorporated in existing driver’s education programs. Investigate both the possibility of increasing fines and/or point values and the use of permanent signage.
They will make recommendations to advertise the Driver Removal law on the CMS; they also have heard this advertised on the radio, and information is now in the vehicle code, but this has not been advertised statewide. And the group does not think the topic made it into the Driver Education program/materials.
Need to emphasize the importance of and obtain commitment from response partners to document TIM-related performance measures, including the number of responders struck and/or killed at incident scenes. Need to train with each other. There is currently no multidiscipline
training. There is a TMC statewide academy, which is ongoing, but this
is mostly attended by Caltrans personnel.
Catalog existing training activities and identify existing
policies/procedures that warrant refresher/ additional training. Use
the TIM committee to identify both additional training gaps/needs and
cross-training opportunities.
