Phoenix Regional Update

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), in conjunction with the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Maricopa Association of Governments, have conducted a two-day workshop for traffic incident management (TIM) practitioners in the Phoenix metropolitan area, as a part of the FHWA TIM Workshop effort.   Arizona is continuing to work on secondary crash evaluations, and promotes successful TIM activities throughout the state and greater Phoenix metro area.

Regional TIM Coalition in place.  The coalition meets jointly with the Advanced Traveler Info. Systems (ATIS) Working Group, which has a component of media in the room with the TIM Coalition. The region’s TIM philosophies and projects were presented at a media group summit, which included statewide media

Secondary collision tracking in place.  

TIM is mentioned in the 2014 SHSP with specific goals to include reduction of secondary crashes and work zone safety.

AzTech serves as a region wide focal point for TIM and incident management.
