On November 18, 2015, FHWA learned that the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has begun to deliver more of the SHRP2 Traffic Incident Responder courses in the Lone Star State.  The first  multi-disciplinary class tomorrow begins tomorrow, November 19, 2015, in the Bandera area.  Also, the Texas DPS representative reporting the news--who attended the FHWA/National Fire Academy train-the-trainer courses held in August 2015--shared that the Texas DPS has made the course mandatory within its ranks.  DPS qualified instructors have been tasked with training all  troopers and commercial vehicles officers--or about 2,700 employees--in the 4 hour Traffic Incident Responder course. This is just the latest of a series of reports about the course being institutionalized among 10 to 12 other State law enforcement organizations in Texas and other States.  For more information about this notice, please contact Paul Jodoin, TIM Program Manager at FHWA (paul.jodoin@dot.gov).
